My Favorite Restaurant in Humble
To this date, The Potatoe Patch Restaurant is not only my favorite restaurant in Humble, it is my favorite restaurant in all of Texas. If you are a local and haven’t spent an evening dinning at the Potatoe Patch, you need to do it soon. But, don’t forget to bring your appetite, as it is easy to fill up on the rolls, muffins, fried green tomatoes and fried okra. The rolls muffins are just plain excellent as they come hot from the oven and get tossed out to the diners. I am a big eater, and I have to admit that I was already stuffed before my dinner came. I had grilled shrimp and snow crab legs. The shrimp were scrumptious, and the crab was prepared well. Despite the excellent food, I would say the best part of my visit was chatting with the owner, as he had come in and sat down in front of the T.V. His table ended up being right across from us, and we discussed some of the history behind his restaurant along with NFL playoffs. Below you can find a slide show of the Restaurant, and my wife’s review of the establishment.

My Wife’s Review
When I was growing up in the Northwest, Fried Green Tomatoes was one of my favorite movies. So, ever since I moved to Texas, I have wanted to try the fried green tomatoes at the Potato Patch in Humble Tx. When my husband took me there the other day, I was very excited to go. It has a very comfortable, country atmosphere. It made it really fun, because they had someone walking around with hot rolls and muffins (which tasted wonderful) where they called out if anyone wanted them, and if you were across the room from the waiter, they would actually throw the rolls or muffins at you!! It reminded me of going to baseball games with the family. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner of the Potato Patch. He was a really pleasant to talk to. For our meal, we had rib eye and crab. Both were outstanding, despite the fact that we ate so many rolls and muffins. My husband thought the rolls were by far the best that he had ever eaten, so we bought some to take home to share with our nephew. The next time I go to the Potato Patch, I plan to eat a smaller meal to leave more room for those yummy rolls and muffins.

Had a great lunch there on Friday with James and Mike Price of MLpodcast who gave us some great insights into social media.
The lunch: The Chef’s Salad had a huge pile of salad topped by nice ham, cheese and hard boiled eggs. A great meal accompanied by those rolls and the muffins. Bottomless iced tea and I was a happy guy.
Our local amusement park has a “potato patch” – they are probably not the same restaurant, but here they are the best fries you can find if your stomach can handle them
I too saw the Fried Green tomatoes movie when I was younger and wanted to try them ever since, but it must be something you can only find in certain places, I’ve yet to come across any in my travels and not being a very good cook haven’t tried making them.
Sounds like this is a great restaurant! Next time I’m in Texas I’ll have to stop in and have a meal!
What year did the Potatoe Patch open?
I am not positive as to when it opened but I know it has been around at minimium for 5 years. Here is the phone number, (281) 443-3530,
if you would like to find out on your own. The next time I am in there I will ask about the date it had opened.
I am totally disappointed. Just returning from a long day checking my bank statement pending and they over charged me. The casher made and error and had to bill me in two seperate paments which could have been planed as a set up to get more money. My mom’s salmon was bland and nasty. My food was not bad. I am so pissed that in times like these people are trying to get 10 extra dollars out of you. See you in the AM.Potato Patch I want my money back that you stole.
@Natoy – I am sorry you had a bad experience. I am a big fan of the Potatoe Patch and happen to be on a friendly basis with the owner. He would never allow a story like yours occur without making it right. You should go back in and complain. I sincerely believe it was either a mistake or the dishonesty was only held by the cashier.
I can’t wait to try this restaurant. It sounds too good to be true. I loved being able to see the pictures. Thanks for the great suggestion.
